Rules for UAE Employment Visa

Eligibility Criteria for UAE Work Visa
Foreign nationals above 18 years who meet the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation standards can apply. Note:
- No upper age limit, but higher fees apply if over 65 years.
- Applicants are categorized as:
- Category 1: Bachelor's degree holders
- Category 2: Post-secondary diploma holders
- Category 3: High school diploma holders
Documents Required for UAE Employment Visa
- Valid passport with copy (minimum 6 months validity)
- Passport-size photograph with plain background
- Verified educational certificates (attested by UAE embassy/consulate and Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
- Medical certificate from a UAE-approved health center
- Commercial license of the hiring company

How to Get Your UAE Work Permit
The employer applies for your UAE visa on your behalf via the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The process includes:
- Employer submits work permit application on Ministry of Labour’s online system
- Submission of required documents
- Ministry reviews and requests corrections if necessary
- Upon approval, employer downloads the work permit from Ministry’s website
Processing time: Usually within 5 working days after document and fee submission.
Validity of UAE Work Permit
The work permit is initially valid for 1 month and can be extended. During this period, you and your employer must arrange your Residence Visa, Emirates ID, and Labour Card. After receiving the Residence Visa, you are legally authorized to work in the UAE.
How to Obtain a UAE Work Visa
Your approved work permit acts as an entry permit to the UAE for employment purposes. The official UAE Employment Visa activates after your arrival in the UAE.
Renewal of UAE Work Visa
The UAE Work Visa can be renewed. Initial issuance is for 1 to 3 years, with extensions subject to approval by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs. Sponsors may also renew your visa during the residence visa expiry grace period.
